Bigfoot discovery channel, Yeti SciFi channel, sasquatch discovery channel, videos, bigfoot sounds

I have recently added links and information about bigfoot, sasquatch and yeti. YouTube videos have been added on Discovery Channel documentaries, famous films such as the Patterson Film and experts presenting facts about bigfoot and sasquatch. Information about the recent SciFi Destination Truth expedition seeking yeti has also been posted. I will continue to add more audio and video as well as recent developments in the search for bigfoot.

Yeti footprints near Mt Everest, Nepal, Joshua Gates, SciFi Channel, Dr Jeff Meldrum

Joshua Gates of the SciFi Channel show Destination Truth, has discovered what appears to be Yeti footprints in Nepal near Mount Everest. Joshua and his team filmed the excursion to find Yeti and the discovery of the tracks. Plaster casts were made and shown to Dr Jeff Meldrum, a scientist at the University of Idaho and an expert on primates and tracks. The footprints were convincing to Dr Meldrum who has evaluated many footprints of bigfoot, sasquatch and Yeti. The SciFi Channel show Destination Truth was on last night, March 5 2008 and I am sure it will be rerun. The only other  evidence discovered was possible bedding sites.

Bigfoot research, how to, participate, learn

Many people are interested or curious about bigfoot. More and more tv shows, documentaries and You Tube videos are devoted to the subject. I first became interested in bigfoot at age 12 after seeing the movie “The Abominable Snowman”, hearing reports from explorers like Sir Edmund Hilary and especially after watching the movie, “The Legend of Boggy Creek” about the Fouke Monster, that was based on a real incident. Even though I was busy raising a family, working and consumed with everyday survival, my interest never waned. The advent of the internet and increasing availability of reports from sources all over the world made researching a lot easier. Of course, at the same time, it has added a lot of cr@# to wade through.

If you are interested in learning more about bigfoot, here are some suggestions:

  • Of course start with the internet and read accounts from different sources. Always look for common sense signs of credibility.
  • Watch documentaries on tv.
  • There are good books out there and my suggestion for the first one is by Dr. Jeff Meldrum of the University of Idaho, “Sasquatch, Legend Meets Science.”
  • Attend a presentation. Don Keating of EOBIC holds them regularly. You can find out more at his site:
  • Listen on radio or the computer to interviews of experts like Dr. Jeff Meldrum or Don Keating. Here are a few:

  • A high percentage of bigfoot sightings or encounters have occurred in forests, national parks, state parks, swamps and on rivers by hunters, fishermen, hikers, campers and work crews. This makes perfect sense. It is when we go into their habitat that they are often seen. People rarely have cameras with them and are caught off guard. So, the next time you are in a natural setting, take a camera. If you are able, keep some plaster of paris with you to make a casting of footprints.
  • Here is the easy one. Strike up a conversation, in person or on the internet. It really is a small world. Years ago I was just north of Mount St Helens in WA state. I stopped at a small store. I struck up a conversation with a local man who had a neighbor that had a bigfoot encounter. Many people have had some experience.
  • Lastly, if you ever have an encounter, use common sense and be careful. I believe the creatures exist. They are large and powerful.
  • Signs to watch and listen for. Teepee like formations of limbs. Branches broken at a higher level than humans would. Banging on trees. Vocalizations resembling some primates. Rocks being thrown (some large) on land and in water. And of course footprints. If you come across large footprints, measure, photograph and cast if possible.

Bigfoot, sasquatch names, regional names

I ran across an old list of names for bigfoot like creatures. Many of the names for bigfoot, such as sasquatch, come from North America and the United States. I noticed that almasti was missing and I am sure many more are missing, so as I get time I will add to the list.

Bigfoot, sasquatch, Don Keating, EOBIC, Operation Appalachia

Don Keating is a bigfoot researcher based out of Ohio. He has been actively researching, presenting seminars and seeking the elusive creature in it’s habitat for years. I first contacted Don over 5 years ago about a bigfoot encounter in Ohio that was reported to my then existing website. Since then I have been included in bigfoot news and local encounters through the group we are involved in, Operation Appalachia. Operation Appalachia is a joint effort of bigfoot researchers and enthusiasts mainly on the east coast, but also includes others. In 2007, several reports from North Carolina were reported to me to follow up on.

Don has a radio show on the internet and usually has an interesting guest with experience in the field of research. Listeners can call in and ask questions or even report an encounter. For more information on the radio show visit:

Don Keating’s organization is Eastern Ohio Bigfoot Investigation Center and you can visit it at:

If you think you have had an encounter with bigfoot on the east coast or anywhere, contact Operation Appalachia and a researcher close to you will follow up and respect your privacy:

Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Patterson film, Jeff Meldrum

The most famous picture of bigfoot is the famous Patterson film taken at Bluff Creek in California in October 1967. The film has been talked about, commented on and analyzed for many years. Many people have been quick to jump to the conclusion that it was a man in a suit, without doing any work to scientifically analyze the film. I have looked at the film, frame by frame many times and have watched many documentaries about it. With only a cursory examination, and a few facts about human and ape anatomy, it was clear that this was no human in a costume. The muscles show rippling in movement, the gait is not human, the feet can be seen clearly and the face has been analyzed with modern day techniques. This is clearly another primate and not a human or gorrila. Much of the evidence has been in the form of footprints and in many cases they have revealed dermal ridges that are not characteristic of human foot prints. These have been evaluated by forensic experts. Enough of what I know. Dr. Jeff Meldrum of the University of Idaho has been researching bigfoot for many years and has collected many footprints casts and other evidence. He has written a book, “Sasquatch, Legend Meets Science.” In the book he explains the scientific approach he has taken to bigfoot research. Below are 2 links to listen to Dr. Jeff Meldrum being interviewed.

The following is a link to an analysis by Dr. Meldrum of the anatomy of bigfoot feet and locomotion:

Bigfoot, sasquatch facts and information

Bigfoot sightings have occurred and been recorded for hundreds of  years over many regions of the world.
Sightings in the U.S. don’t just occur in the Pacific Northwest.
They have been sighted over much of the continental U.S.
These creatures, though apparently curious about humans, generally  avoid human contact. However, if their territory is violated,  they can become quite hostile and dangerous. Some people, including  myself, believe that the bigfoot inhabiting the Southeast, are  more hostile, due to the increased infringement by humans on their  habitat.
Males, females, youths and apparent elderly bigfoot have been  identified.
The “classic” male height estimate is 7 1/2 – 8 feet tall, with
reports as tall as 10 – 14 feet.
The typical weight guess for the 8 foot creature is 350-450 pounds.
They are covered in hair several inches in length ranging in color  from reddish brown to black, with an occasional sighting of white  or grey.
Habitats are typically remote mountainous, state or national wooded  parks or swamp land. They have been spotted outside these areas  crossing roads, farmland, in residential areas and even in  commercial areas.
